Squid Game 2 continues to capture global attention following the massive success of its previous season. Although Netflix has only released a short teaser trailer, the various snippets and new cast members have already sparked excitement among fans, leading to a flurry of online speculation and analysis as viewers eagerly search for hidden “hints.”
Recently, a South Korean netizen watching the trailer at 0.25x speed discovered a significant detail: the “big boss,” played by Lee Byung Hun, is no longer taking center stage but instead appears as an “acc clone” to join the players in the deadly games.

The character portrayed by Lee Byung Hun makes a brief appearance at the 1:15 mark, with just a 0.5-second glimpse that has generated significant buzz online. Notably, this detail connects back to Season 1, where the player known as “Player 001” (Oh Young Soo) was revealed to be the mastermind behind the deadly games.
In the series, Lee Byung Hun plays the role of the missing brother of the police officer Hwang In Ho (Wi Ha Joon), who is currently searching for him. However, this character is also the winner of the previous season’s games and has been chosen as a VIP to oversee the deadly competition. If reports confirm Lee Byung Hun’s participation in Season 2, this installment could become a thrilling showdown between two major stars, Lee Byung Hun and Lee Jung Jae, who will face off as the leading characters.

Previously, fans speculated that “Lee Byung Hun would return as a VIP in Season 2, while Lee Jung Jae would take on a lead role.” Lee Byung Hun himself has clarified, “This theory is quite imaginative, but it differs significantly from the actual storyline. You will see many new games in Season 2, and once again, they will be traditional games from South Korea.”
What will be the real role of Lee Byung Hun in Season 2? The answer will be revealed when Squid Game 2 premieres on December 26, 2024.
