The Evolution of Wit Studio: From “Attack on Titan” to New Ventures

George Wada revealed that Wit Studio has always aimed to collaborate on various projects simultaneously. However, in the case of “Attack on Titan” and “Vinland Saga,” the studio initially focused on the first season, intending to assess DVD sales to determine future developments.
It wasn’t until some time later that sales figures became available, and Wit Studio decided to officially embark on a new anime project. Wada further emphasized that studios must take responsibility for discontinuing certain projects.
Subsequently, MAPPA, another prominent studio, has taken over “Attack on Titan” and “Vinland Saga.” With greater financial resources and a larger workforce, MAPPA can effectively manage sales data. Moreover, the industry has seen a significant growth in streaming services, diminishing the reliance on DVD and Blu-ray sales. This shift has transformed the marketing strategy for promoting anime more rapidly.
Additionally, the anime “Attack on Titan” debuted when Wit Studio was significantly smaller than it is today. For context, the studio started this project with only 35 employees. The workload increased to the extent that they had to double their staff for the release of the second part.
Wit Studio Today: Growth and Adaptation

Despite the challenges, Wit Studio has continued to push the boundaries of creativity. They have produced new anime such as “Spy X Family,” “Suicide Squad Isekai,” and even a remake of “One Piece.”
Wit Studio excels in adapting various genres with top-notch quality. Consequently, fans eagerly anticipate what Wit Studio will bring to the anime community next, promising many exciting developments ahead.
