Despite the numerous films released, when it comes to X-Men, audiences certainly think of the iconic character Wolverine, brilliantly portrayed by actor Hugh Jackman. This character is not only central to the X-Men film series but has also earned the affectionate nickname “the wolf” among Vietnamese fans, reflecting the inspiration behind this character which is derived from the word “wolf” itself (even the name Wolverine means “wolf”).
According to the latest announcement from the X-Men Twitter page, the third installment in the standalone series about the character Logan has officially revealed its title: Wolverine: Weapon X. This title has been officially registered by Fox as of yesterday.
With this title, there’s no need to elaborate too much; fans of Wolverine already understand that this storyline will primarily revolve around the top-secret Weapon X program and its connection to Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton.
In the film X-Men: Origins, audiences were introduced to the Weapon X program along with the connection to Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton. In the third installment of the Wolverine series, we will also meet a new character who is quite familiar to avid comic fans, Laura Kinney, also known as X-23, the clone version of Logan.
Similar to Wolverine, X-23 also possesses superhuman regenerative abilities, agility, and strength, along with remarkable endurance. Additionally, X-23 is equipped with adamantium claws that extend from both her hands and feet. In the 2015 comic version, this character even considers Logan her father figure, sharing the same Wolverine identity.
