Lunch: The Transformation into Super Saiyan and the Fate of a Character

One of the first things we notice about the transformation into Super Saiyan is the striking contrast of Lunch’s character. After sneezing, her personality shifts dramatically from a sweet girl to a fierce warrior with golden hair. Do you see the resemblance?
Goku’s first transformation into Super Saiyan is marked by an intense struggle for control. His biggest challenge is finding balance and not letting the transformation overwhelm him, similar to what happens with Broly.
Although Lunch is not a traditional warrior, she transforms from a character with blue hair into a fierce figure with golden hair after her sneezing fits. This phenomenon parallels Goku’s transformation, emphasizing the dramatic changes in Lunch’s character that foreshadow the concept of Super Saiyan.
What Happened to Lunch?

Many fans believe that Lunch became a background character to avoid overshadowing Super Saiyan. Unfortunately, creator Akira Toriyama seems to have forgotten about her character. This oversight was revealed in 2003 during his visit to New York for the Shonen Jump launch event.
Toriyama admitted, “To be honest, there were times I forgot about Lunch. Then, when I remembered, I had to think of a reason why she had changed. So, I made it so she was following Tenshinhan.”
In 2013, Toriyama clarified that Lunch had feelings for Tenshinhan, a character who is a farmer. They lived together for a time, but Tenshinhan was not romantically interested in her, and Lunch was not particularly good at her responsibilities. Eventually, she drifted away but still returned to her original form.
