On July 3, Japanese broadcaster NHK reported the tragic death of 18-year-old actress Tominaga Sana, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend with a knife. Sana’s mother discovered her daughter lying motionless on the floor in a pool of blood, prompting an emergency call for help, but she could not be revived.
According to NHK, Tominaga Sana was studying in Yokohama, Japan. She was in a relationship with 22-year-old Haruki Ito. However, due to Ito’s violent tendencies, their relationship was tumultuous, characterized by frequent arguments.
Local police revealed that since 2021, they had received four reports regarding domestic violence involving Tominaga Sana and her boyfriend. Neighbors of Haruki Ito also reported hearing loud arguments and Sana’s pleas for forgiveness.

On June 22, Tominaga Sana attempted to break up with her boyfriend, but Ito refused to accept the decision, leading to a heated argument in the car. After the confrontation, Sana left but realized she had left her bag in her boyfriend’s car. When she returned to retrieve it, she discovered that her house key was missing. Police had advised Tominaga Sana to change her locks quickly and take precautions against potential threats.
According to reports from the assailant, after taking Sana’s key, he devised a plan to enter her home. When he encountered her, he fatally stabbed her. Following the incident, the assailant promptly contacted the police, indicating he was aware of the gravity of the situation as Sana had previously reported threats against her.
Tominaga Sana was a well-known idol in Japan. She had participated in various stage plays and was signed under the A-Team talent agency. Sana was a rising star alongside fellow actress Yoshioka Riho and talent Asaka Kodai. In 2019, Tominaga Sana decided to pause her career to focus on her studies.
