The Detective Kien: The Unsolved Case marks the return of Victor Vu on the big screen, particularly notable for his “detective” genre twist – a thrilling crime mystery. This spin-off film from the blockbuster series Cuoi Cuong features a star-studded cast including Dinh Ngoc Diep, Quoc Huy, Quoc Anh, and introduces new talent Minh Anh. The brief “guest appearance” of the character in the teaser trailer for The Detective Kien: The Unsolved Case has caught the audience’s attention.

Star at just 7 years old
Minh Anh (full name Dao Minh Anh), born in 2008, has been involved in the entertainment industry since she was very young. In 2015, at just 7 years old, Minh Anh starred in major advertising campaigns for various brands, notably Vinamilk, Knorr, Milo, Suzuki, and others, marking a turning point in her career as she began to be recognized as a promising young talent, participating in several beauty and talent competitions.
By 2017, Minh Anh earned the title of Outstanding Actress, a significant milestone that marked her serious pursuit of acting. Since then, she has participated in many film projects with notable directors. Her appearances in Chay Di Roi Tinh by director Ham Tran, and Sieu Trom by the duo Namcito – Bao Nhan have given her some exposure, though she had not yet made a significant impact. Alongside this, Minh Anh continued to shine in the Vietnamese Long Dress competition in 2019, winning multiple awards and proving her talent and dedication despite her young age.

Visual impact in The Detective Kien: The Unsolved Case
After nearly a decade away from the big screen, Minh Anh returns unexpectedly when she is cast by director Victor Vu in his masterpiece The Detective Kien: The Unsolved Case. In the film, she plays Nga – the granddaughter of the character Hai (played by Dinh Ngoc Diep), a significant role that the detective Kien (played by Quoc Huy) seeks to uncover. In the teaser, the character Nga captivates the audience with her mysterious beauty, being both stunningly beautiful and intriguingly enigmatic. Additionally, scenes where Minh Anh runs with a blood-stained background reveal her stunning appearance, showcasing a “not just a pretty face” charm.

To secure this role, Minh Anh underwent a challenging casting process. She confessed that she had initially lost hope after two auditions, but unexpectedly received the call from director Victor Vu, who entrusted her with this significant role. Minh Anh couldn’t hide her excitement when she was cast in The Detective Kien: “Getting the role from director Victor Vu after several casting attempts felt like a dream come true.” Particularly, her stunning looks combined with her youthful innocence at just 17 years old helped her make a strong impression in this complex character.
Recently at the fifth Tóc Xanh Vật Áo event, Minh Anh showcased her beauty along with the team from The Detective Kien: The Unsolved Case, flaunting her traditional Vietnamese attire. Her images have received praise from the audience, highlighting her fresh and youthful appeal that captivates viewers, making a strong impression on Victor Vu’s film.

Through The Detective Kien: The Unsolved Case, Minh Anh hopes to establish herself as a serious talent, potentially captivating audiences with her skills and presence, while also gaining the confidence to “branch out” into other fields such as modeling. It is hoped that after this impressive debut in the Vietnamese film industry in early 2025, Minh Anh will emerge as the next name to attract attention.
The Detective Kien: The Unsolved Case officially premieres on April 30, 2025.
