While there has been no official announcement regarding the release date of the new installment, fans of the Dragon Ball Super manga remain hopeful. The latest update comes from Toyotaro, the successor of Akira Toriyama, who has been actively engaging with the community.
We have just experienced a “dry” year in manga. The last chapter we received (apart from a special chapter released three months ago) was the conclusion of the Super HERO arc, published a month after Akira Toriyama’s passing. Since then, the future of the series has remained a significant question mark.
Toyotaro’s latest work has excited fans immensely. To commemorate the anniversary, a special illustration was unveiled for the game Dragon Ball Legends, showcasing Goku and Vegeta in their iconic transformations from Dragon Ball Super.

In the illustration, we see Goku in his Ultra Instinct form and Vegeta in his Super Saiyan Blue state. Both characters are depicted executing their signature moves perfectly, engaging in a fierce battle together, as Toyotaro explained on the official Dragon Ball blog.
Toyotaro shared: “I wanted to create a unique form that represented the strong bond between Goku and Vegeta, like two warriors ready to battle together. I aimed to create a powerful visual impact, which is why I made sure their expressions and costumes were particularly highlighted.”
“By making them two distinct figures, not just one figure overshadowing the other, I can change their forms and ensure that both characters remain in their unique identities. I strive to create a three-dimensional effect by making them appear as two figures rather than one overshadowing the other.”
In a sense of “throwing a welcoming party,” Toyotaro indicates that this illustration reflects on the time of the Jiren fight in the Tournament of Power. However, for many fans, this is more of a “welcome back” gesture for the impending return of Dragon Ball Super.
What do you think of this stunning illustration? Could this be a sign that Dragon Ball Super is set to make a comeback?
