Following the success of the first installment, the project Cruella (named after the iconic character in 101 Dalmatians) has been given the green light by Disney for a second installment. However, instead of focusing solely on the main character, audiences are currently buzzing with excitement and concern regarding the casting choices for this new film.

Specifically, many viewers are taken aback by the recent announcement about a new character in Cruella 2, referred to as the “fashion villain.” The lead role in this project will reportedly be played by none other than A-list singer Taylor Swift, a star who has been recognized by Billboard for her outstanding contributions to the music industry.

According to information released before the announcement, Cruella 2 will feature a musical influence, which means it will not lack talented performers. This aligns with the reason why Taylor Swift has been chosen as a leading cast member alongside Emma Stone in the film.

Though she is loved for her famous songs and blockbuster hits, Taylor Swift is not without her share of controversies. Some of her previous roles, notably in the musical film Cats and Amsterdam, received poor reviews concerning the quality of their production.

Nonetheless, some fans still hold out hope for the singer-turned-actress to deliver a strong performance, especially given the musical element that the first installment of Cruella introduced. Released in 2021, Cruella garnered favorable reviews, achieving a 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film won an Oscar for Best Costume Design, and Emma Stone received a nomination for Best Actress at the Golden Globe Awards. Therefore, the upcoming sequel, which will continue the journey of the beloved character Cruella, is eagerly anticipated by many.
