Last month, news broke that David Leitch would take the director’s chair for Deadpool 2, which has left fans extremely excited. This development came after Leitch triumphed over other contenders such as Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) and Magnus Martens (Luke Cage) to officially become the director of Deadpool 2.
Fans can rejoice as David Leitch brings over 20 years of experience working as a stunt performer in blockbuster films such as Troy (2004), The Matrix Revolutions (2003), Constantine (2005), and Underworld: Evolution (2006). Following that, he transitioned to directing with several films including The Wolverine (2013), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014), and The Mechanic (2011).
With John Wick, a film that David Leitch co-directed, he created a sensation with its impressive action sequences and high-quality production. With a modest budget, John Wick achieved significant box office success and garnered critical acclaim from both experts and audiences (85% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.2 on IMDb). Therefore, fans of Deadpool can hope that the upcoming sequel will feature numerous intense and close-range combat scenes, rich in substance, just like John Wick.
Deadpool is a film about the anti-hero of the same name, produced by Fox, which debuted earlier this year. The film featured numerous “dark humor” situations that captivated audiences, bringing in nearly $800 million despite being banned in China. This success prompted Fox to quickly plan for a sequel, with Ryan Reynolds returning as the titular character, a mercenary with a twisted sense of humor. Additionally, the character Cable is also expected to make an appearance in the upcoming sequel.
Deadpool 2 is scheduled to be released in 2018.
