Naruto Shippuden is one of the most successful anime of all time. One of the main reasons for its success is the compelling characters created by Masashi Kishimoto.
Among these characters is Hyuga Hinata – a Leaf Village ninja who has deep feelings for the main character, Uzumaki Naruto. She eventually marries him after the conclusion of Naruto Shippuden.
However, unlike many other characters in Naruto, Hinata is not the original version created by Kishimoto. In today’s article, we will discuss the original version of this character.
In an official databook of Naruto, author Masashi Kishimoto revealed that the original concept for Hyuga Hinata was a completely different character than what we know today. If there had been no changes, Hinata would not have been a ninja; instead, she would have been an ordinary villager living in the Leaf Village, wearing a beautiful dress, and merely admiring Naruto from afar.
Interestingly, Kishimoto eventually abandoned this concept because it would have been very difficult to incorporate Hinata into Naruto’s story in this way. Nevertheless, in her initial design, Hinata was very beautiful and graceful.

In Kishimoto’s original illustration of Hinata, you can see Naruto in the lower left corner, alongside her, while Hinata wears a dress that symbolizes the Uzumaki clan.

It’s undeniable that the original design of Hinata was outstanding, but transforming this girl into a ninja was an excellent idea. From an ordinary villager, Hinata was transformed into the prominent daughter of Hyuga Hiashi – the head of the Hyuga clan. Since childhood, she has been nurtured to become the next heir of this prestigious family.
It is Hinata who helped Neji and even Naruto himself experience significant character development throughout the story.
