Mixi and Nearly 10 Years in the Industry
Mixi, whose real name is Phùng Thanh Độ, was born in 1989. He is an ethnic Tay from Cao Bang and currently lives and works in Hanoi. He is well-known as a streamer and popular YouTuber in Vietnam. This male streamer leaves a strong impression and is loved for his cheerful and fun personality, bringing much entertainment to his audience. During the golden age of streaming, he was also recognized as one of the top streamers alongside other notable names such as PewPew, ViruSs, and Xemesis.
Initially, he was a regular office worker but had a strong passion for gaming. Since 2017, he has devoted himself to developing his career as a streamer. When he first entered the industry, he gained fame as a CS:GO player. In August of that year, he received an invitation from PewPew to become a caster for The Last Pewnoy, a PUBG tournament. With his humorous commentary style, he quickly drew a lot of attention.
After achieving success in the streaming field, Mixi founded an eSports team called Refund Gaming. Hailing from Cao Bang, this team has gained many achievements in the mobile gaming sector, particularly in PUBG.
Eventually, he decided to focus on his career as a streamer, YouTuber, and entrepreneur.
Mixi’s Dedication to Building the “Book” Community
Throughout his activities, closely associated with the gaming fan community in general and the MixiGaming fanbase in particular, Mixi has continually made efforts to connect. He actively represents his fans, participating in various activities as he promotes the community, often engaging in charitable work and organizing meaningful entertainment events.
In a recent livestream, he shared his feelings: “Since building the community in 2017 until now, I always do what I can, the best I can, towards the best things. And I’m really happy to be heading in the right direction.” This humble sharing reflects Mixi’s dedication to his fans and his pride in his achievements.
Looking Back, the Community of MixiGaming is a Source of Pride
Refund Gaming – the community of passionate fans that Mixi has built, is considered one of the largest communities in Vietnam, with over 3 million members on Facebook.
One of the most meaningful activities that Mixi and his “brothers” in Refund Gaming undertook was the “Góp gạch xây trường” campaign, in collaboration with the National Economics University. Mixi and his fan community raised funds in December for charitable activities. This included building schools in remote and underserved areas, constructing classrooms, and creating meaningful shelters. He also publicly shared every financial report and even contributed a significant amount from his own pocket to support the cause.
Not limited to just livestreaming, Mixi has pioneered content creation in the Vietnamese streaming industry by organizing numerous gameshows with the participation of many celebrities and talented friends. Despite being referred to as “the leafy tree” and “the digital prize,” it’s crucial to acknowledge that Mixi has successfully ventured into various types of programming: Moi rap, Moi song, r/place, MixiCup…
Moreover, he encourages his fans to join and train collectively, participating in competitions such as the Rubik competition – a playground for many talented individuals across the country. With the influence of himself and the community he has built, Mixi has successfully created a unique playground for his audience.
In 2023, the male streamer successfully organized an offline event called Ao Làng Moi Lịch, which saw the participation of members from Refund Gaming and attracted thousands of fans in Hanoi. Alongside this event, Ao Làng Moi Lịch also featured the appearances of two celebrity guests – Hoa Minzy and rapper Đen Vâu, making the fans of Refund Gaming incredibly proud of their idol’s impressive contributions.
Currently, his YouTube channel has attracted over 7.88 million subscribers with a significant number of views. The male streamer’s fan page is also impressive, boasting over 2.5 million followers. He is referred to as “the shining star of VTV” because he has frequently appeared in news segments, showcasing his influence in the industry.
Mixi was one of the prominent figures featured in VTV’s “Looking Back at 2023” segment, where he contributed to the project showcasing Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Paracel and Spratly Islands during the R/place event on Reddit. In 2024, Mixi will continue to be active in advocating against tobacco harm.
