For Marvel movie fans, the powerful “Infinity Gauntlet” wielded by Thanos to collect the 6 Infinity Gems and wipe out most Marvel superheroes has become quite familiar. However, currently, only 4 of the Infinity Gems have appeared in Marvel films, leading fans to wonder where the remaining two gems might be hiding.
Recently, actor Benedict Cumberbatch hinted to the audience that he might appear in Avengers: Infinity War. This means that the character Doctor Strange, who will be in the film set to release at the end of October, will have a close connection with Thanos. So, is it possible that Doctor Strange himself is currently holding one of the Infinity Gems?
Recap of the Infinity Gems
For Marvel comic fans, there is likely a long story behind these gems. Nevertheless, I would like to remind you briefly about their appearances in the Marvel cinematic universe to clarify their importance.
In total, there are 6 Infinity Gems, which can be fitted into Thanos’ gauntlet to bring great power to their holder, allowing them to unleash devastating attacks across the universe. Below are the Infinity Gems that have appeared in the Marvel cinematic universe.
Space Gem (Blue): This is the Tesseract, which first appeared in the movie Captain America and was used by Hydra for research and application. In the Avengers movie, it was recovered by SHIELD and used to open a wormhole for Loki to invade Earth.
Reality Gem (Red): Appeared in Thor: The Dark World, where the Dark Elves used it to manipulate this universe to their advantage.
Power Gem (Purple): This gem appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy when our hero Star-Lord found it on the planet Morag, which had become a target for Ronan, a servant of Thanos. Currently, the gem is being held by the Nova Corps on Xandar.
Mind Stone (Yellow): This gem was embedded in the Mind Stone, which Thanos gave to Loki during his invasion of Earth. Later, Tony Stark used the gem’s power to create Vision, who became a powerful synthetic being.
If the Infinity Gem appears in Doctor Strange, where will it be?
This is a question that many die-hard fans have been pondering, and there have been numerous theories put forward, but nothing has been confirmed as Marvel remains silent on these theories.
One of the most popular theories among fans is that the Time Gem will be in Doctor Strange’s possession. You can spot this gem in a poster of the film featuring the powerful wizard.
