Tuning In to Infinity Nikki: Is It Worth the Hype?
Infinity Nikki – a game developed by the famous fashion game franchise featuring Nikki has had a rocky start since its launch in December last year. However, just a few months later, what remains is a community of gamers that has suddenly burst into activity and a ranking board that has received a dismal 1.9 stars on Google Play.

The game has kicked off with the latest update, where the publisher has completely revamped the game’s opening sequence. They removed the lengthy intro that many players enjoyed and replaced it with a new, illogical, and hard-to-understand introduction, particularly for newcomers who are unfamiliar with Nikki’s story. Not only that, the two loading screens in the new intro have been “downgraded” to worse banners, forcing players to “gacha” to progress. The loading screens have become entirely obstructive, only being bypassed after encountering a wave that supposedly extracts resources from the community.

The game’s gacha system has also undergone significant changes. Previously, each loading screen had 9 slots, requiring 180 spins to complete. Now, it has increased to 10 slots (200 spins), and currently stands at 11 slots, requiring a total of 220 spins. Some loading screens even lack a “foot,” but after being downgraded, they still require additional spins to unlock. The game is supposed to open up the ability to upgrade loading screens after 180 spins, but this cannot be utilized unless the player has completed all 11 slots. This situation leads to a “having but not having” state, causing players to spend numerous resources without ever reaching the rewards.
Is Infinity Nikki Stuck in a Spiral?
Don’t get me wrong, the latest update has introduced a co-op feature and a new loading screen area, but it remains incomplete and full of bugs, causing many players, especially on PlayStation, to be unable to access the game for several weeks. Meanwhile, the publisher has just recently released a patch to address these issues a few days ago. Additionally, the apology for the delay in updates does not account for the decisions causing disputes.

A colorful loading screen system has also been added, but it does not lack its share of complaints. Instead of being able to earn colors through events, players are forced to purchase this feature with real money or participate in time-limited events, which occur during specific time frames, such as… 3 hours in the morning. To make matters worse, color is determined per loading screen, not for the entire outfit, meaning for each of the 11 slots, players must unlock the color 11 times separately.

Despite all these issues, the game’s rewards that the publisher has offered are still quite significant. It appears that only a few color packages are available, making it hard to achieve the 10 spins required. Moreover, to earn rewards, players must continuously log in for 8 days, and they cannot be directly sent out on Thursdays like usual.
Once a game that was expected to become the next big hit in the Gacha fashion game genre, Infinity Nikki is currently stumbling on the road to winning players’ trust. With its current rating of 1.9 stars, it still has a long way to go…
