Mugen Tsukuyomi – The Eternal Tsukuyomi is the most powerful illusion technique in the Naruto universe, utilized solely by those possessing the Rinne Sharingan. This technique allows the user to cast a shadow over the moon and project the light of the full moon, ensnaring all of humanity in an everlasting dream.
All living beings under this light become trapped in an illusion and are drawn into an eternal dream state. The victims find themselves bound, their chakra extracted until they transform into White Zetsu.
Although this technique is incredibly powerful, it is not entirely unavoidable. There are a few individuals who can escape its effects!
1. The Light of Mugen Tsukuyomi Can Penetrate Solid Objects to Ensnare All Living Beings
Essentially, the Eternal Tsukuyomi is a technique where the user projects the light of the Rinne Sharingan onto the moon. Following that, the moon’s light is used to illuminate the entire planet.
No matter where on Earth, whether day or night, all will be affected by the light of this moon. All living beings that come into contact with this light will be ensnared by the Eternal Tsukuyomi.
Even when hiding underground, this light can still penetrate. Thus, in terms of this technique, everyone will be subject to its influence, although some may have the potential to evade it.
2. Rinnegan Users Can Evade the Light of Mugen Tsukuyomi
So, who can avoid the light of Mugen Tsukuyomi? The answer is those who possess the Rinnegan.
Specifically, Sasuke can evade the effects of Mugen Tsukuyomi. However, Zetsu could manipulate Obito with the Rinnegan to also evade this technique, even when Obito was not initially aware of it.
3. Sasuke Protects Team 7 Under the Strength of Susano’o Enhanced by Rinnegan
Since Sasuke possesses the Rinnegan, he can avoid the effects of Mugen Tsukuyomi. But how do Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi stay safe under the light of Mugen Tsukuyomi, even though they do not have the Rinnegan?
Only Sasuke with Susano’o, augmented by the Rinnegan, can shield and protect Naruto. Sasuke knows that to defeat Madara, both he and Naruto must work together. Sakura and Kakashi also stay close to Naruto, ensuring their protection. However, Sasuke does not intend to protect Sakura and Kakashi directly.
4. Other “Non-Human” Entities Are Also Immune to Mugen Tsukuyomi
Besides those who possess the Rinnegan, there is another category that is also immune to Mugen Tsukuyomi. This includes beings without souls, unlike humans or other living creatures.
An example is the Edo Tensei of those who have died, such as the Hokage of the Hidden Leaf, who can be resurrected through Edo Tensei without being affected by Mugen Tsukuyomi.
Alongside them, Black Zetsu and White Zetsu also belong to a category that is immune to Mugen Tsukuyomi. However, the beings with White Zetsu abilities will still be affected. For instance, Orochimaru could use the abilities of White Zetsu or Yamato.
