At the recent San Diego Comic-Con 2016, DC fans were treated to the first teaser for the highly anticipated movie Justice League, featuring the appearances of Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman. Alongside the teaser, director Zack Snyder hinted that even though Superman died in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, he will be resurrected and return in Justice League.
However, alongside the emergence of these six superheroes, fans have speculated about the seventh superhero that DC is keeping under wraps. Despite being just a rumor, the information suggests that this character is indeed significant.
The Seventh Member of Justice League
The first point that makes many devoted DC fans confident about the hidden seventh character is that in the comic version, Justice League is always known for having seven core members, which include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, Flash, and… another character that we will discuss later.
Introduction of the cast of Justice League at Comic-Con 2016
Notably, the film is set to premiere on November 17, 2017, and many fans believe that this release date was chosen specifically to highlight the seven members of the Justice League.
Aquaman’s “Teasing” Poster
In contrast, back in 2015, the first images of Aquaman were leaked and received significant backlash from hardcore fans, who felt that the character was misrepresented in those images.
In the image shared on Digital Spy, Aquaman, portrayed by Jason Momoa, appears with the tagline “Unite the Seven.” This gives us the impression that the Justice League will have seven members, not just the current six.
So, Who is the Seventh Member of Justice League?
In the comic version, the seventh member of the Justice League is Martian Manhunter, an alien with many unique abilities. However, when adapted into film, many details may change, and it is possible that Martian Manhunter will be replaced by other characters. This includes characters like Shazam, who is set to have his own movie in 2019, or Green Arrow, who has already made appearances in a long-running TV series and could also be a candidate for this seventh slot.
Let’s wait for the release of Justice League on November 17, 2017, to see if this film is indeed hiding an elusive seventh superhero character.
