Part 2 of Harry Potter – The Chamber of Secrets introduces viewers to various transformations, particularly the possibility of a new character emerging in Slytherin. While Harry and Ron succeed, Hermione unexpectedly transforms into a “cat person” due to a miscast spell meant to change her hair instead of her body.

The image of Hermione as a cat in Harry Potter Part 2 delights the audience as it combines humor and charm. However, the unfortunate truth is that the character resembling this transformation is not Emma Watson, but Flick Miles, who was cast as her. Close to Watson from the first film, Flick Miles was later recognized as the “closest match” for the character Hermione.

Miles shared that she was selected through a very meticulous process, primarily via a photo that was sent to the film crew. Later, she went to the set and participated in a test to see if she matched Emma Watson in terms of appearance, physique, and chemistry. Since there were many common points between them, Miles was chosen to portray the character Hermione.
She played the scene where Hermione turns into a cat due to a spell gone wrong. Miles noted that she sat down to embody the character as a cat, which was an incredibly enjoyable and unique experience.

Not only did she portray Hermione in the cat transformation scene, but Miles also appeared in several other significant scenes throughout the first three parts of Harry Potter. Notably, when Hermione is petrified by the Basilisk, that was also Flick Miles’ portrayal. In a Reddit reply, Miles shared that Emma Watson was quite down-to-earth and friendly. They often joked around on set because they both were girls with similar backgrounds.

Currently, Flick Miles has not appeared on screen for some time, but she frequently shares memories about Harry Potter and even has a podcast program titled Behind the Wand.
