As of now, the focus of DC fans and audiences alike is on the recent trailer for the upcoming Superman: Legacy, which is set to debut on July 11. Meanwhile, James Gunn has also teased the first trailer for Season 2 of Peacemaker, the first series he has produced since joining DC Studios, alongside several other films that have received positive reviews for DC in recent years.
Specifically, when Smith “applied” to join a superhero team, he not only “crashed” the interview room but also caught the attention of the recruitment staff in a rather sinister manner. Notably, this recruitment drive includes appearances from Guy Gardner/Green Lantern and Hawkgirl – two of the many superheroes that will feature in the blockbuster Superman. The direct confirmation of Peacemaker as an official part of the new DC Universe (DCU) marks a significant shift from being part of the previous cinematic universe (DCEU).

In Season 2 of Peacemaker, Smith will continue to portray the character alongside Rick Flag Sr., the father of Rick Flag Jr., who was portrayed by Smith in The Suicide Squad. Previously, Rick Flag Sr. appeared in the animated series Creature Commandos – recognized as the first official project of DCU, also helmed by James Gunn.
It’s worth noting the intriguing detail at the end of the trailer. The poster for Hanoi Roxx (which is a clear parody of the band Hanoi Rocks) has drawn considerable attention from fans in Vietnam. However, the main point of interest here is the appearance of two Peacemakers within the same frame, hinting at some potential musical undertones related to the setting, or at the very least, the appearance of a character who could undergo a transformation or change in form.
Peacemaker will welcome back John Cena (as Christopher Smith), Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo), Freddie Stroma (Vigilante), Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt), and Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.).
Season 2 of this highly anticipated series will officially premiere on August 21 of this year.
