The horror film “Bird Box Barcelona” is set to be released on Netflix on July 14, 2023.
In 2018, horror movie fans were introduced to the gripping world of “Bird Box.” Featuring Sandra Bullock in the lead role, the film was a significant success for Netflix, quickly becoming one of its most-watched titles. In the first four weeks following its release, 89 million households followed the harrowing journey of the characters in “Bird Box.”
Recognizing the potential of this franchise, Netflix announced in March 2021 that it would be expanding the “Bird Box” universe and producing a Spanish-language spinoff. Just last week, eager fans got their first official glimpse of the upcoming spinoff titled “Bird Box Barcelona.”
“After a mysterious force decimates the global population, Sebastian and his daughter Anna must navigate a harrowing survival journey through the desolate streets of Barcelona,” summarizes the film’s premise. “But as they form an unlikely alliance with other survivors and search for a safe haven, a new threat looms larger than ever.”
The first teaser trailer for “Bird Box Barcelona” showcases the chaos erupting on the streets of the Spanish city as the unseen entity wreaks havoc, forcing people to flee from their homes. The footage reveals a world in turmoil, with survivors desperately trying to navigate the devastated city while hidden dangers lurk around every corner.

“Bird Box Barcelona” is directed by the Pastor brothers, Álex Pastor and David Pastor, who previously collaborated on other science fiction films including “Last Days” and “Carriers.” The duo also worked with Netflix to produce the film “The Occupant” in 2020.
