On November 27th, the members of the Hanoi community attended the On-Matsuri festival, a unique event celebrating Japanese cosplay culture. This festival, inspired by the Kasuga Wakamiya Onmatsuri held in Kawamiya, Nara Prefecture, is organized annually by the Japanese Cultural Club at Phan Dinh Phung High School in Hanoi (PJCC) in collaboration with the Cosplay FC.
The On-Matsuri festival features diverse and vibrant activities, making it not only a celebration of Japanese culture for students at Phan Dinh Phung High School but also an event for anyone who loves Japanese culture and cosplay across Hanoi. This festival is not limited to Vietnam; On-Matsuri is celebrated in various countries worldwide, attracting fans of Japanese culture.

True to its name, the On-Matsuri festival certainly cannot be without its traditional stalls. Not only are these stalls the main decoration concept for the festival, but On-Matsuri also features a dedicated marketplace managed by PJCC, where attendees can purchase unique handmade items or traditional goods tailored for creative cosplay designs. The variety includes not just women’s costumes but also a range of masks, accessories, and more.
In addition to these stalls, attendees passionate about Japanese culture can engage in various other lively activities, such as entertaining games on stage, unique performances highlighting Japanese traditions, and experiencing Japanese culture through activities like wearing Yukata, tarot reading, or learning some basic techniques from traditional Japanese martial arts.
