According to the latest information we have received, Legendary Entertainment – the renowned production company in the film industry has officially confirmed that they are working on a new project titled Detective Pikachu. This project will be directed by Rob Letterman, who has extensive experience with children’s films. The screenplay will be written by Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch.
As of now, the script for Detective Pikachu has been fully completed. At this point, Legendary Entertainment has chosen Universal Pictures as the distributor for the film in many countries around the world, especially in Japan. In Japan, the distribution will be handled by Toho, the company responsible for the Pokémon franchise.
From the initial information, we can see that Detective Pikachu will not be based on the usual Pokémon universe depicted in Anime or Manga. Instead, it will be a unique story centered around Pikachu, closely linked to a recent game titled Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo.
In Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo, Pikachu will take on the role of a detective, with the primary task of solving various cases. Alongside him is a young boy with blonde hair. Notably, we will see a new artistic style for Pikachu, featuring a hat and a magnifying glass, reminiscent of the famous detective character Sherlock Holmes.
At this time, it is still unclear whether the Detective Pikachu film will retain or alter any plot details compared to the game. Legendary Entertainment has not yet provided a timeline for the start of this project. We will keep you updated with the latest information as it becomes available.
