With the successful launch of “Resident Evil 4 Remake” (which achieved over 4 million sales in less than a month), Capcom is now excitedly anticipating the release of the CGI film “Resident Evil: Death Island,” which is expected to benefit from the game’s success. Based on the latest images, it is certain to be a film that thrills the dedicated fans of this iconic horror game franchise.

Directed by Eiichiro Hasumi (“Assassination Classroom”) and written by Makoto Fukami (“Psycho-Pass”), “Death Island” continues the story from “Resident Evil: Vendetta,” which was released in 2017. Audiences will follow Leon S. Kennedy, an agent of the D.S.O., on a mission to rescue Antonio Taylor after he is kidnapped. However, a mysterious female antagonist appears and hinders Leon’s pursuit.

At the same time, Chris Redfield, an agent of the B.S.A.A., is investigating a zombie outbreak that has erupted in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection remains unidentified. The only common link among the infected individuals is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently. Following this lead, Chris and his team venture to the island, where a new horrifying threat awaits them.

“Resident Evil: Death Island” is scheduled for release in Japan on July 7, 2023, with no international release date announced yet. This is the third 3D animated film in the “Resident Evil” franchise, following the first film “Resident Evil: Degeneration,” released in 2008. However, the latest information indicates that “Death Island” will feature high-stakes action and is set to delight fans by bringing together many beloved characters.
