The film Detective Class C21 aired in 1998 with 9 episodes revolving around the story of five high school students who share a passion for solving mysteries: Minh Tổ Cú (Tuan Long), Sơn Sò (Duc Thanh), Quang Sắt (Han Quang Tu), and Sáng Béo (Tung Lam).
With their intelligence and quick thinking, this group of five has managed to uncover many secrets, contributing to the safety of their school and the surrounding community. The show has been on air for 25 years, but it still holds a special place in the hearts of many viewers.
After many years on air, the “detective students” of Detective Class C21 have changed significantly. The group leader “Minh Tổ Cú” is played by Tuan Long.
As the main male lead, Tuan Long brings charisma and intelligence to the character, becoming a notable actor in the industry today.
After portraying Minh Tổ Cú, Tuan Long has participated in various films like Friends in the Same Class, House with Iron Bars… However, he stepped away from acting and focused on a career in law enforcement by the age of 18. Nowadays, Tuan Long appears to have nearly faded from the entertainment scene.
Sơn Sò is portrayed by Duc Thanh, the “older brother” in the “detective group.” He is three years older than the team and has a more robust physique. Duc Thanh has also made a successful career as an actor and is well-known for his role as Sơn Sò, the character central to the series of Detective Class C21.
After Detective Class C21, Duc Thanh appeared in several other films, but none have eclipsed his role as Sơn Sò. Nevertheless, he continues to be active in the entertainment industry through singing, music production, and as an MC. He is also the songwriter behind the hit Hundred Years Not Forgotten performed by singer Quang Ha.
By 2020, Duc Thanh was diagnosed with stage two cancer. Since then, “Sơn Sò” has undergone multiple chemotherapy sessions, determined to fight against the dreadful disease. During treatment, he not only continued to work in the arts but also organized numerous charity events to support cancer patients in difficult circumstances.
Among the main male actors from Detective Class C21, besides Duc Thanh, Han Quang Tu (playing Quang Sắt) is still active in the arts. The intelligent Quang Sắt, who has a modest appearance, quickly transitioned into a professional actor.
After playing Quang Sắt, Han Quang Tu has participated in numerous popular TV dramas like Door to the Dark, The Lure, Black Shadow… He graduated with honors from Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema in 2018 and is also a lecturer. Currently, Han Quang Tu continues to engage in various film projects and theater productions while enjoying a happy personal life.
Unlike the others, Tung Lam completely “retired” from the acting scene after his role as Sáng Béo in Detective Class C21. Tung left a lasting impression with his robust physique, but after this film, he has not taken on any other roles.
The male actor shared: “As I grew older, I realized I was no longer passionate about acting, and I didn’t enjoy it anymore, so I decided not to pursue an acting career. I have acted in many films, but Sáng Béo remains the most memorable role for me.”
After Sáng Béo, Tung Lam pursued professional Judo for four years, losing over 20kg in the process. After four years of training in Judo, Tung Lam studied economics in China and returned to manage the family’s traditional business.
