This Lunar New Year, the cinematic landscape is not just adorned with distinctive Vietnamese films but also features contributions from foreign masterpieces. Among them, the film M3GAN by the “horror maestro” James Wan is generating significant anticipation among viewers. This film has caught attention with its main character, M3GAN – a doll equipped with artificial intelligence that is both charming and terrifying.

Although M3GAN was created by machines and technology, the character’s essence is brought to life by a real person, 100%. The actress behind the doll’s plastic face is Amie Donald. Born in 2010, Amie was cast in the film due to her impressive ability to portray this iconic character.

Donald has been given the freedom to perform naturally, without the need for extensive physical constraints during filming. However, alongside her acting, the portrayal of this artificial intelligence doll is further enhanced by a team of skilled animators and visual effects artists. Additionally, M3GAN’s voice is provided by another actress named Jenna Davis.

Speaking of Amie Donald, she is a relatively new name in the film industry. Before landing her role in M3GAN, Donald was a dancer and had participated in many national competitions. At just 9 years old, she had the opportunity to compete for the title of World Dance Champion in Portugal, where she won the Gold Medal in the Jazz category and the Bronze Medal in the Contemporary category. This experience has garnered attention and made her a notable presence in the film project, especially with her impressive physical performances. Prior to M3GAN, Amie Donald appeared in Sweet Tooth and played a recurring character in the series.

As it turns out, Donald is the one who performs the viral dance from M3GAN that has taken social media by storm. In fact, this iconic scene was not in the original script of the film. Screenwriter Akela Cooper revealed that director Gerard Johnstone added it to the script, making the film more unique and engaging. Currently, M3GAN is a box office hit in theaters across Vietnam and has received high praise from critics.

M3GAN officially premieres on the evening of the Lunar New Year – January 27, 2023, in Vietnam.
