In a special broadcast recently held in Japan, Koei Tecmo Games announced that the popular video game Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout (Japanese: Tokoyami no Joō to Himitsu no Kakurega) is set to be adapted into an anime series.

The anime is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2023, featuring voice actors from the original game. The first promotional visuals for the anime have already been shared.

Production Team
The anime will be directed by Ema Yuzuriha at LIDEN FILMS. The series composition will be handled by Yashichiro Takahashi (known for Shakugan no Shana), who previously worked on the original game’s story adaptation.
Character design will be overseen by Tomoyuki Shitaya (Shokugeki no Souma), while Kazuki Yanagawa, who was also involved in the game production, will contribute to the soundtrack of the anime.
Plot of Atelier Ryza
The story revolves around Reisalin Stout, a girl living on Kurken Island who embarks on a journey of adventure. One summer day, she discovers a mysterious abandoned boat and sets out on an expedition along with her friends Lent Marslink and Tao Mongarten.
During her travels, she encounters a traveling alchemist and meets the skilled blacksmith Empel Vollmer, along with the loyal Lila Decyrus. From that point on, Ryza begins her journey to learn the art of alchemy, leading to various exciting adventures. Eventually, she uncovers the secrets of her own home.
About the Game Atelier Ryza
Koei Tecmo Games released the game Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout in 2019 for PS4, Switch, and PC via Steam. Following that, a sequel titled Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy was released in January 2021, expanding to PS5 with enhanced controls for a more immersive experience.
The third installment, titled Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, was announced for release in Japan in February of last year. However, due to various reasons, its release has been postponed to March 2023.
