Harry Potter has become closely associated with the childhood of many around the world, transforming into one of the most significant cultural symbols that profoundly influences the thoughts of generations. Although the original series by author J.K. Rowling has concluded, numerous events and spin-off works related to Harry Potter continue to be released consistently over the years.
The latest film in the franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is set to premiere this November, featuring a storyline that delves into the magical world prior to the events of Harry Potter. This film is highly anticipated by fans, especially as it connects to the educational book Magical Creatures: A Guide that has garnered significant attention.
Moreover, not only fans of the Harry Potter series will participate, but also sports enthusiasts can join a Quidditch tournament akin to those depicted in the Harry Potter books. This tournament, known as the U.K. Quidditch Premier League, will take place in England.
The tournament will feature eight teams from various countries around the world. A total of 20,000 Quidditch players across 25 nations will compete for just eight spots in the final match that will be held in England. Jack Lennard, the tournament organizer, stated:
“The Quidditch Premier League is a great opportunity for enthusiastic fans to experience and develop this sport further. Quidditch players will have the chance to compete against each other to become the best players and discover more about this beloved sport in the Harry Potter universe.”
For those who are unfamiliar, Quidditch is a sport that appears in the stories of the young wizard Harry Potter. The rules of this game are somewhat similar to soccer, except that players do not run but instead fly on broomsticks, competing in the air to capture the ball from opposing teams.
Of course, the real-life version of Quidditch will differ from the fictional one, as there will be no flying involved. Instead, players will have to run with a… broomstick held between their legs and aim to score points with the Quaffle (the main ball used in the game), while attacking and defending with a Bludger (a dodgeball) until the match concludes when the Golden Snitch (similar to a tennis ball) is caught by the Seekers.
