Last month, the leadership of Fox and CEO Dana Walden announced to the media several details regarding the X-Files television series. The two executives expressed optimism about the success of Season 11 of X-Files and stated that they had discussed the project with the cast, all of whom are eager to participate again without any reservation.
However, in a recent interview with Deadline, actress Gillian Anderson clarified that the Fox executives have yet to meet with her or discuss any information regarding Season 11 of X-Files with her.
“I am still waiting for the phone call, but they have not said anything to us at all. I also don’t know how long the next filming will take. And I still have my own life, with other jobs that I need to do as well. So if they want to continue making the sequel, then it’s best if they reach out to me. I’m not sure if I will be involved in the next part.”
As for David Duchovny, he hasn’t expressed much difficulty with Fox’s statements, but he believes that if they continue, the series needs to have something new and different.
“I’m in a moment of contemplation; there’s also no specific reason for a change. And not to say, but everyone knows this season is also good but hasn’t turned out as well as we hoped for. And the question is if we continue, how do we make it more compelling than before?”
Thus, with Gillian Anderson’s revelations, it seems that the X-Files film crew is experiencing a bit of tension. And if Season 11 of X-Files is produced, she might still hesitate to participate in the project again.
