Recently, the blockbuster film The Flash has released a new trailer, officially unveiling its intergalactic adventure on the big screen of DC. The characters in the movie are presented prominently, featuring at least two versions of Flash, two versions of Batman, and also Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El.
1. As seen in the trailer, Supergirl is a prisoner in The Flash, potentially leading to extreme situations.

In The Flash, we see an image of Supergirl in a white prison uniform, suggesting that she is being held captive. At one point, Kara appears very thin, indicating that her health is quite deteriorated while being imprisoned in a dark room.
But why is Kara a prisoner in the universe of The Flash? The answer is still unclear, but let’s explore what happens in the Flashpoint storyline to form our own hypotheses.
Flashpoint is a significant event that prompted the New 52 reboot of DC Comics, affecting the entire DC universe. Specifically, it is a major crossover event that also involves aspects related to the new timeline that Barry Allen inadvertently creates. By running back in time to save his mother from being murdered while Barry was still a child, the entire DC universe is altered drastically.
Although Ezra Miller’s The Flash will not directly translate all the events from Flashpoint in the original material, the film directed by Andy Muschietti will still implement its unique version while retaining many core values from the source material.
2. Superman (Kal-El) also has significant parallels to Flashpoint in the comics.

First, it should be noted that Superman (Kal-El) also faced a similar fate in the Flashpoint storyline. In the Flashpoint narrative, Barry inadvertently creates a new timeline that highlights the conflict between Aquaman and Wonder Woman, leading to a massive war.
So, what about Superman? Kal-El, after crashing down in the center of Metropolis, is captured by the U.S. government.
He is imprisoned and subjected to experiments in a government facility aimed at creating superheroes for warfare.
Later, Flash and Cyborg manage to rescue Kal-El from captivity to help prevent the ongoing war.
3. It’s possible that Kara encountered misfortune when landing on Earth, leading her to become a prisoner and a test subject.

Although The Flash does not fully adhere to the Flashpoint storyline, many elements are still utilized in this movie.
One of the theories is that Kara may have landed on Earth during a dire situation. She becomes a prisoner and a test subject for the U.S. government, similar to Kal-El in Flashpoint.
In the trailer for The Flash, it appears that both Flash and Michael Keaton’s Batman are rescuing Kara, indicating that her powers are essential because the trailer mentions that this new timeline lacks Metahumans (superpowered beings). As Supergirl is certainly a Metahuman.
To battle against Zod and his army, the assistance of Kryptonian beings is crucial – one of the most formidable forces on screen.
