Newt Scamander: The Keeper of Hippogriffs and a Hufflepuff
Newt Scamander, whose full name is Newton Artemis Fido Scamander, was born into a wizarding family in 1897. Growing up, he nurtured a deep affection for magical creatures, particularly Hippogriffs. This passion for extraordinary beings led Newt to develop a special bond with these magical creatures, and he often preferred their company over that of humans. This fact is evident when Newt mentions that his creatures are currently in danger in New York, facing threats from some of the most dangerous magical creatures, notably the Erumpent.
Newt attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he was sorted into Hufflepuff House. He was also one of the students tutored by Albus Dumbledore. During his time at the school, Newt formed a close relationship with Leta Lestrange, who is known as the mother of Bellatrix Lestrange (or possibly a distant relative). Leta’s character has been subtly referenced in the Harry Potter series. In the upcoming film, we will learn more about this intriguing character.

The film’s setting in 1926 reflects a time of escalating tensions in New York due to the disturbances caused by magical creatures appearing on the streets. Additionally, the city is rife with rumors regarding the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, who is known to be causing trouble in the area. Fans of the series will recognize this name, as he is often referred to as the “dark wizard” and is an important figure in Albus Dumbledore’s past.

In the wizarding world, the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was published in 1927 and quickly gained fame, becoming a standard textbook for magical schools. Harry Potter will utilize this book, which is set to be reprinted for the 52nd time.
