The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in creating illustrations through user-provided text prompts is expanding rapidly. Despite its presence in many areas, this technology continues to be controversial, particularly concerning copyright issues, especially in the realm of anime and manga.
As you may know, AI operates by “learning” from all the content available on the internet, but it only accesses this content when prompted by users. For instance, to generate an illustration of an anime character, the user must request it through specific text instructions. Additionally, users can refine their searches using keywords on the internet, then understand what content is available, and finally request the AI to create the desired image.
Recently, a Twitter user with the handle @waifu_jp created a “realistic version” of a famous anime character with the help of AI. However, the results produced by the AI have left many in awe due to their stunning resemblance and the uncanny feeling that they portray a real human being.

After viewing a few images above, many people might find it hard to believe these are AI-generated products.
Furthermore, fans are eager to discover more beautiful waifus in the anime world when AI “realizes” them. What do you think they would look like in real life?
